Fiction: Deborah Jackson: Ice Tomb (Invisible College Press, 2004)
Ice Tomb is a romantic scifi thriller set half on Antarctica, half on the Moon. Its main character is Erica, a volcanologist who’s ideas have been swiped by an insecure asshole of a boyfriend. To add insult to injury, the boyfriend, now an ex, manages to bypass Erica for a spot on a NASA Moon mission.
Although the book starts slow, it ends up featuring Atlanteans, giant meteors, quantum teleportation and other scifi staples. Refreshingly, military men generally only make things worse and the real solutions are found with a spirit of inquiry and honesty.
